Inspired by other people and Josh's overwhelming urge to have chickens, here they are. we started with 6 chickens and 2 turkeys, Ella was overzealous with her affection for one turkey, and it lives in a better place now. We went back to get some more only because most of them are going to move to josh's parent's new place as soon as they move in, which is any time now, and they wanted more. So we now have 19 chickens, hopefully mostly hens, and 1 turkey. I'll let you know how it goes.
I'll get a picture of all twenty and the coop Josh built later.

We take pictures of Ev when she's whining, and she hates it. So she stops! Which is why we keep doing it...
My in-laws started doing chickens a few years ago and really enjoy them, and the fresh eggs. They sell some of them to the neighbors. They haven't seemed too work-intensive so I suspect with your farming background your chickens will do great!
That's a lotta chickens. I was just telling Ben that I think a few laying hens would be fun. He laughed. So you are one good sport for having them. I love your hardwood floors. They are beautiful.
I love having chickens! But, ummm...that's a lot. Are they egg layers or slaughter chickens? If they're egg layers, you're going to have to give away a lot of eggs or sell them. Your kids are so grown up! Love the bathtub shot--so cute!
Just have to say I love al the pictures but the bath one is my newest favorite! :-)
