Day in Day Out

I must say that it is hard to feel like I've accomplished anything during the day when I find my self cleaning the same things over and over, putting away the same toys and, doing the same dishes only to have it unclean again in 15 minutes. That is unless I do it while the kids are sleeping or before I run out of the house, which is nice because then I have the gratification of coming home to a clean house. Anyway I decided I would post something that I got done today. It might become a habit, we'll see if it actually makes me feel more accomplished.

So anyway the door handles on our suburban broke off, I mean completely off like a wire that has been bent too many times.
In order to get out of the vehicle we had to roll down the window and use the outdoor latch. About one week after the driver side broke the passenger side broke. That was maybe three weeks ago, so finally last week I tore apart the doors to see just what it would take to fix them. So $60 dollars later I have everything I need to fix it, and three days later I get one door fixed, which in my time isn't bad. I only had to drive around with scraps of wood wedged in the in between the dash and the door for a few days so the dome light would go off.

Anyway, today I got the driver side fixed finally Yeah!!
P.S. This is a picture just before I test the window and lock buttons, not a finished product.:)

Here are some pictures. I find these projects less troublesome than gratifying and even more so because I didn't have to pay some one who knows how much to fix it. Another major plus, I didn't break anything while tearing the panels off.

Have a great day!

I heard of someone that encouraged moms to do a "lasting project" (one that when you finish it, it will stay that way) every day so you don't get stuck in that day in, day out rut. It feels good to get projects done, and to feel the sense of accomplishment. And it feels even better when you can say you did ___ AND you have kids. :) Good job fixing the door! That's awesome.

Impressive! I wouldn't have tackled it! Ben had to do that to our Camry last year because the sliding window broke. He had a much harder time of it though! And he ended up breaking something.
